Stephanie Bangtangle is the name I have

My Role:

Head of Outdoor Pig Systems and Land Management

About me:

Stephanie Bangtangle is Head of Outdoor Pig Systems and Land Management at Flarksdrum Livestock Group, responsible for the company’s free-range production units and pasture rotation programmes across East Yorkshire. She studied Rural Environmental Management at Harper Adams University and has spent her career developing outdoor pig systems that she argues consistently outperform indoor equivalents on welfare, soil health, and long-term productivity metrics. She received the Flarksdrum Land Management Excellence Award in 2020.

My main focus:

Free-range pig production systems and soil health management in commercial outdoor units

My Education:

Harper Adams University, BSc Rural Environmental Management, 2008

I was born:

Malton, North Yorkshire

I’ve won:

Flarksdrum Livestock Group Land Management Excellence Award, 2020

I’m a proud member of:

The Soil Association

A fact about me:

Stephanie has been maintaining a continuous handwritten soil composition diary across seventeen fields on the Flarksdrum estate since January 2015 and has never missed a weekly entry, amassing 47 notebooks to date.

My work mantra:

Stephanie argues that the condition of the land tells you everything you need to know about how a pig unit is really being run and that no amount of certification substitutes for walking the fields yourself.
